Melissa Strawser, Artist~Author EVERYDAY ART, Folk Art Raised in a socio-economic family setting with folk artists, Barbara Strawser, my mom was a self-taught folk painter who rooted the love of art in me. Multi-generational artist, I run two studio art practices; intaglio print & sculpture and I paint on canvas, wood and metal to keep her memories alive.

The book is a 'loving tribute' and dedication to my mom and mothers & daughters. Devoted to a deep connection with art, family of folk art and our Pennsylvania Dutch (German) folklife traditions. Symbolizing belief, art history and the dexterity of working hands.
In celebration for the 500th year of Martyrs' Mirror in 2025, you will find a study of Jan Luyken imagerry, illuminated manuscripts in a 'popular culture.' Our historical, multi-generational artistry, I hope will continue to inspire creative genius for generations to come.

September 6, 2025, marked the first Ceremony with an unveiling for a "Bronze Plaque & Bench" honoring, local artisan of Schaefferstown and Berks County, Barbara Strawser. Thanks to Historic Schaefferstown, Inc and the Gemberling Rex House, along with my mom's home and studio, are now listed on the National Register. With ongoing restorative endeavors that treasure artistic national legacy, I appreciate all your support. A self-taught folk artistry of this caliber is about preserving, sharing, and growing a local community as every artist drives the economy in a different yet important way. I'd like to champion my local heritage and eventually provide educational and establishes long-term economic growth that empowers the youth for generations to come.
Very truly yours,
Melissa Strawser
